The breakup process is a really sh*tty one and it comes with so many emotions that can plunge you into a state of depression if you’re not careful.

It sometimes feels like you would never be able to recover from it. You start to feel a little used especially if you were cheated on and it feels like you wasted precious time especially if you have been dating for a long time.

Here are the stages you go through when breaking up.

  1. 1 Shock

    If you’re being honest with yourself, you may admit that you sort of saw it coming. Certain signs showed so clearly but you’ll still feel the shock of the breakup. You were still pretty good together so why the breakup?



  2. 2 Anger

    After the initial shock, once you’re able to wrap your head around the fact that they broke up with you, the flood gates open for anger! You’ve invested so much time and effort into the relationship and now they just want to leave?? The anger is worse especially when your partner cheated on you. You just want to break his things and hurt them just like they hurt you!



  3. 3 Sadness

    After all the energy the anger brought, it dissipates and all you’re left with is a gaping hole in your heart. You start being sad because, well, the person you want doesn’t want you back and because of the time you wasted. You can’t help but go through all your #couplegoals pictures and videos.

    This pain shouldn’t be something you run away from, but one you run towards because it really helps you deal with the breakup. Allow yourself to feel the breakup and it will be easier to move on later.

  4. 4 Numbness

    You start to just not care anymore. You’re just so so tired of the emotional roller-coaster. You’re exhausted and physically, mentally, and emotionally drained. You start to finally accept the reality of the breakup and you start to live in survival mode.



  5. 5 You let go

    By the time you go through all the other stages, it’s a little easier to do this one. You need to remember and understand that, you need to let go so you can move on to greater things. It’s sometimes hard but it needs to be done.

    Remember that this is just a phase and you’ll come out stronger than ever. You’ll be okay.
